Ingredients

  • 2.5 lbs beef country style ribs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ cup beef broth optional for baking
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Sweet Baby Ray’s or your favorite

Instructions

  • Remove the ribs from the package and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Trim any excess fat if necessary.
  • Season the Ribs:
  • Brush each rib with olive oil.
  • In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • Coat the ribs evenly with the seasoning mix. Let them rest for at least 30 minutes (or overnight in the fridge for deeper flavor).
  • Slow Cooking in the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Place ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet. Add a splash of beef broth for extra moisture (optional).
  • Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until fork-tender.
  • Remove foil, brush ribs with BBQ sauce, and return to the oven uncovered for another 15-20 minutes.
  • For a caramelized finish, broil for 5 minutes, watching closely.
  • Grilling Method (Alternative):
  • Preheat grill to 350°F.
  • Grill ribs over indirect heat for about 90 minutes, turning every 30 minutes.
  • In the last 10-15 minutes, brush ribs with BBQ sauce and move to direct heat for a nice char.
  • Slow Cooker Method (Alternative):
  • Place seasoned ribs in a slow cooker with ½ cup beef broth.
  • Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours.
  • Brush with BBQ sauce and broil for a few minutes if desired.
  • Serving:
  • Let ribs rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy with classic BBQ sides!

Notes

For extra tenderness, marinate the ribs overnight.
If using store-bought BBQ sauce, consider mixing in a splash of apple cider vinegar or honey for a custom flavor.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven at 300°F wrapped in foil for the best results.
